Scope: Creating a charter framework to implement “Good” / Altruism as part of corporate culture, promoting givers in a company and increasing profitability. This is a draft.

We believe that prioritizing the well-being of others not only benefits individuals and teams, but it also creates a positive and supportive work environment that drives business success. To support this effort, we have outlined strategies, responsibilities, and guiding principles in this Altruism Governance Charter. We are committed to recognizing and rewarding employees who exhibit selfless concern for the welfare of others and to measuring the impact of altruistic behavior on our company’s success and well-being.”

Definitions

Altruism: Unselfish concern for the welfare of others.

Recognition: Acknowledging and honoring the actions and contributions of employees who exhibit altruistic behavior.

Measurement: The process of evaluating and quantifying the impact of altruistic actions.

Objectives

  • To foster a culture of altruism among our employees that promotes a positive and supportive work environment.
  • To recognize and reward employees who exhibit altruistic behavior.
  • To measure and track the impact of altruistic behavior on our company’s success and well-being.

Strategies

  • Encourage employees to participate in team-building and community service activities.
  • Offer opportunities for employees to mentor and support one another.
  • Provide training and resources to help employees develop altruistic leadership skills.
  • Recognize and reward employees who exhibit altruistic behavior through various recognition programs and incentives.
  • Encourage employees to be givers and help each other in their work, feedback, and free time.
  • Encourage employees to help the wider community.

Responsibility

  • The HR team will be responsible for implementing and managing programs and initiatives that promote altruistic behavior among our employees.
  • All employees are expected to demonstrate altruistic behavior and selflessly support their colleagues.
  • Board members are expected to model altruistic behavior and encourage its practice among employees.

Measurement

  • Altruistic behavior will be measured through surveys, focus groups, and other data collection methods to assess the impact of altruistic behavior on our company’s success and well-being.
  • The HR team will track the participation and impact of team-building and community service activities on employee engagement and well-being.

Identification of Altruistic Employees:

At [Company Name Here], identifying and recognizing employees who exhibit altruistic behavior is an important part of fostering a culture of altruism. Here are some strategies we will use to identify employees who are demonstrating selfless concern for the well-being of others:

  • Employee feedback and nominations: Employees can nominate their colleagues for recognition by submitting feedback through our internal recognition platform or contacting HR directly. This allows us to identify employees who are going above and beyond to support their coworkers.
  • Performance reviews: During performance reviews, managers will consider and evaluate employees’ demonstrated altruistic behavior as part of their overall performance evaluation.
  • Tracking participation in team-building and community service activities: By tracking involvement in these activities, we can identify employees who actively promote altruism within the company and the community.

Guiding Principles

  2. Altruistic behavior should be genuine and selfless, with the primary focus being on the well-being of others.
  3. Altruistic behavior should be promoted and recognized at all levels of the organization, including among board members.
  4. Altruistic behavior should be encouraged and supported through training, resources, and recognition programs.
  5. Altruistic behavior should be measured and tracked to assess its impact on the success and well-being of our company.
  6. We will regularly review and assess our efforts to foster altruistic behavior and make any necessary adjustments to promote a culture of collaboration, trust, and mutual support among all employees.
